RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – Urban Roots Garden Classrooms, a garden classroom program that teaches school children to grow food and eat responsibly, will receive a $10,000 donation from Reno Sunrise Rotary and “Edible Reno/Tahoe” magazine.
The money was raised at a century bicycle ride, the Edible Pedal 100™, held in September 2011. Urban Roots maintains a garden for educating children at 3001 West 4th Street, Reno, NV.
The Edible Pedal 100™ride attracted over 500 bicyclists. The route included the Washoe Valley, Carson Valley as well as Lake Tahoe. A check will be presented to Urban Roots today at 6:30 p.m. at the Cafe de Thai restaurant, corner of Longley Lane and S. Virginia. Media are invited to attend this event.
