Days Til 2015 Ride

All the Last Minute Details!

Dear EP100 peeps,

Ride Day is almost here and of course, there are some last minute details.

Coming from Reno, you can take the ‘new’ freeway, I580, to get to Bowers Mansion in Washoe Valley. Take exit 50 and follow the signs to the park. Please slow down as you approach the entrance. We’ll have lights, signs and flashing things so you can’t miss us. It will be busy with riders and cars and deer and parking attendants and who knows what else.

We have plenty of parking. Your smartly attired parking attendants will be on site and directing you. Please slow down as you approach Bowers and go where they tell you. Carpool if you can.

Pre-ride check in. Get your registration packet and very COOL goodie bag courtesy of Northern Nevada Medical Center, Haws Corp, REI, Nature’s Bakery, Kimmie Candy, REMSA and more!

Big thanks to the Lyon County Search & Rescue, Leon Zasadny of Sierra Cyclesmith and Bicycle Ray for providing on course SAG (Support, assistance and gear) and moto marshal support.
All Ride stops are staffed with bike mechanics, culinary arts students from several high schools, HAM radio operators and very friendly Rotarians. Big shout out to REI, Velo Reno, Reno Bike Project, Scheels, Carson City High School, Douglas High School, Hug High School, AACT and Washoe ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services).

150km riders. This is for you!

Kingsbury Grade is closed to all traffic EXCEPT EP100 riders and residents. There is a pilot car escorting locals through the cone zone. When you get to the Summit (and you’ll know when you’re there), you must show your bib to the flagger for access through the gate. From the gate you’ll ride to Ride Stop #4 which is at the Fire Station. You must stop at the fire station and wait for the friendly Rotarian to tell you when it is safe to continue riding down the course. From here you’ll be able to ride the almost complete, newly paved course. This is a steep, fast section, please ride with caution.

We are deeply indebted and grateful to Q & D for providing the course safety infrastructure. You’ll see reader boards, cones, lights, signs, flashing barrels and a flagger on route; all designed to keep riders and volunteers safe.

And speaking of safety, did I mention slowing down as you approach the Bowers entrance?

To our friends/volunteers from NDOT and Washoe County, thank you for marking the course. Riders look for route arrows on the ground. Blue-10 mile, green-50 mile and orange 150km.

Air Quality
We’re monitoring AirNow (http://airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=airnow.local_city&zipcode=89704). If there are any changes to the ride, they will be posted on our website and emailed to you.

We are very excited to bring you the 4th Annual Edible Pedal 100®! Have a great ride and we’ll see you at the barbecue!
