As I sit here ready to get some good rest before tomorrow’s big day, I can’t help but obsess over the course. Does anyone else do this? Envision the flats, the climbs, the curves? I am picturing tables overflowing with food at each rest stop too! I’m more than thrilled to see 1,000 cyclists all line up to take part in such a good deed together. Not only is this ride great for our health and spirit, but it allows students to feel pride in their own creations with the feasts they will provide. All the money raised goes right back into scholarships for these students to progress in their culinary or agricultural studies. I feel so grateful that my good friend Jill Stockton, who is helping with EP100’s PR asked me if I wanted to ride. I remember her saying that she can always count on me to go for it. She’s pretty accurate. Why miss out on an experience, especially one with such good intentions. Jill, thank you for introducing me to this world. I can’t wait to see your smiley face at the finish line.
I’m chuckling to myself as I think of how much less fearful I am tonight. I know this will be a fun few (or several!) hours and I know the wind in my face will be a reminder of how alive and thriving our community is. Good luck to all the cyclists on Sunday and may we all have a happy, strong, and safe ride, filled with smiles and savory treats!
